Very painful having to sit through any assembly or meeting. Thanks for the info. Im so happy to say its been nearly a year and a half since being at any meeting or assembly. I love what you did with the money. Wish I thought of that before I left.

With elders like that, who needs Pharisees!
by 00DAD ini'm sure you're all familiar with the quip, "with friends like that, who needs enemies!
a recent thread got me thinking about how this easily applies to the organization in general and to many of the elders in particular.
now i know, there are some few good elders out there (god knows i tried to be one).

The congregation I grew up in the body of elders were known not only in our cong but surrounding congs as the “Gestapo” because of their Gestapo like tactics. They would bring you in on one set of problems then break you down to the point where you would feel guilty about every sin you’ve committed. They would find out if anyone else was involved in any wrong doing you may know about. Then go after anyone mentioned even if they weren’t directly involved in the matter but may have had knowledge of it and was “concealing” it. There were times where in a given month there would be one or two public reproofs of DFing – usually reproof- each week. Most of these kids were under 18. No wonder there are only about 5 of the at least 20+ kids still in that I know of.

At the yacth club, a guy leered at a girl. "Hey, baby, would you help me 'raise my mast'?"
"No thanks," she said sweetly. "I heard about you from your ex and she included a 'small craft' warning." -

Celebrating Christmas?????
by DATA-DOG ini am just curious, and not judging.
if you are a christian and you know that december 25th is not jesus' birthday, and may have pagan roots, then why celebrate it?
i was raised a dub as most of you know, and have learned the ttatt so i know how wrong they are about a lot.

Alot of people who leave the "truth" also seem to start runnign around packing every sort of bad behavior possible into the shortest amount of time.
Not me. I still hate smoking, people who go crazy with drugs and I'm sober. My life has really been the same since I left with the only exception being halloween, b-days, possibly x-mas and growing a goatee.

I took my3 year old son trick-or-treating this year for the first time. He loved it. I/we probably wont celebrate Christmas this year but I will be celebrating his birthday which is 2 weeks before Christmas. I will let him and my daughter- when shes old enough to talk- dictate weather or not we celebrate Christmas. I don’t believe in god or Jesus as anything but a historical figure anymore but I love the season and the lights and gifts. My wife is not thrilled with me celebrating anything with them but she doesn’t protest too much. She asked me “Don’t you think it’s hypocritical to celebrate Christmas if you don’t believe in Jesus?” I told her “No. I think that if I/we decide to celebrate it with the kids, it will be for the fun and gifts. I don’t care about the origins." My son loved halloween and I think he will love Christmas and all that comes with it, I'm just not prepared to do it this year.
Funny thing is that when she found out I bought a bunch of gifts for his upcoming birthday she said to me “Your going to be the “fun” parent who celebrates things and gives gifts.” About 2 weeks ago she bought him a nice toy he’s going to love and will be wrapping it to give to him after a dentist appointment about a week before his birthday. Maybe I can slowly turn her to TTATT. One day at a time...
